Kawakawa Writing


TITLE: Kawakawa


Classification - Kawakawa is a small town in New Zealand in the north island, Kawakawa is also in the Bay Of Islands.  It is beside Moerewa, Waiomio, Taumarere and Otiria.



History - The Kawakawa train went into business in 1864.

When the Kawakawa Train Workers discovered coal they learned how to make the train travel by mixing fire and coal together


Local River and how it is used - The Kawakawa river name changes to the Waiomio Stream, then the Otiria Stream and lastly Waiharakeke Stream.

Geographical information - The Kawakawa Population is 1,221. There are 633 Females and 588 Males.
